The Challenge

In Metropolitan Chicago, nowhere have the economic effects of the pandemic been worse than in our Black and Latinx communities. Building on the momentum of the Chicago Community COVID-19 Response Fund, The Chicago Community Trust and an unprecedented coalition of government, business, philanthropy, nonprofit, and community leaders launched a multi-year effort to bring about a truly equitable economic recovery.

The Impact

A public launch timed to coincide with the anniversary of the Great Chicago Fire—when Chicago first showed the world what rebuilding really meant—meant that we had just six weeks to develop foundational communications. So far, We Rise Together has raised $37 million and has 23 major partner organizations.
